New Balance Numeric x Welcome 440 Shoes in Sea Salt and Red. Designed in collaboration with Welcome Skate Store in Leeds, this New Balance Numeric 440 pays creative tribute to Louis Le Prince and the history of film. Styled with leather and nubuck uppers inspired by the York Stone flags on Leeds Bridge, this low top New Balance Numeric 440 also features a moulded EVA insole, a supportive heel counter and a rubber outsole with a herringbone and hexagonal tread. Leather ‘N’ logos detail each tight knit mesh side wall, whilst each padded tongue features woven ‘New Balance Numeric 440’ labels with French flag inspired taping. Finished with star toebox perforations, custom Leeds Bridge paving stone insoles and with ‘New Balance’ branding displayed across each blue leather heel.
Celebrating the history of the moving image and its ties to evolutionary skate culture, the New Balance Numeric x Welcome 440 tells the story of a little known piece of Leeds history. Highlighting a legacy just a short walk from the Welcome store with referential detailing inspired by the structural elements of Leeds Bridge and the history of cinematographer Louis Le Prince.
